In this surreal movie, little Jack was born with an ice cold heart, which had to be immediately replaced, but instead of an actual heart, he was given a clock in order for him to live. Throughout the film, viewers are shown throughout his childhood his undying curiosity of what is out in the world. When his caretaker, Madeleine, decides to take him out to town for the first time, he falls madly in love with a singer endangering him since he has three rules to live by and falling in love was the most dangerous out of the three. Desperate enough to see her again, he embarks on a journey to find his true love and admit his love. Through his embark to see her, viewers are shown the winding path Jack had to take in order to get to see his sweetheart including a dark, ghoulish bully, a French cinematographer, and unique characters. The songs that are carried out in this movie are so beautifully sung, it is almost majestic in a way swaying people because of the amazingness they seep. Jack's voice is just one example of that. The story in general is a bit extreme but raw making me want to watch it again, because of the surrealism that is placed all over this movie. It is almost like going through dreams and reality making viewers confused if it was really happening or not. It definitely made me think what the difference was between dreams and reality.
