The Gambler

You could either hit or miss the Gambler. It is definitely taking a chance when seeing Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) as a sad and depressive gambler who does not know when to stop. Especially with his exhaustive talking. After losing his grandfather, Jim can't help it but gamble and gamble and gamble. It does not help that he does not like his day job as an English professor at the college either. When he does teach, he goes on a tirade on whether or not his students are talented or not. Things take a turn though when he has to start paying back his debt in the next seven days. Jim tries his best and bores the audience with the endless talking and smartass comments. Not to mention the unnecessary scenes that the producers try to put in the movie to make it more interesting. The only scenes that might captivate the audience are the actual gambling and the occasional fight Jim gets in, because he does not know when to shut up. Along with his debt, Jim manages not only to piss off his mother but a student of his that he might have a thing for. So if you're deciding whether to hit or stay with the Gambler, you're just going to get a bust.
