In this medieval movie, dragons run amok the peasant folk, and these dragons aren't just normal dragons. They're witches, and one of them is on the escape from her prison in order to hunt down her prey. Thomas Ward (Ben Barnes) was an ordinary farm boy until he was founded by a mysterious wise old man named Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges.) Master Gregory tells Tom that he is a prodigy; a seventh son from a seventh son. Even though this movie follows Master Gregory on his hunt on finding the witch that escaped, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), Tom still plays somewhat of a part in the movie as an apprentice even though viewers are questioning what the heck it means to be a seventh son. The movie makes viewers think that the story is based off a book and it is, but the way the producers were trying to captivate the audience was not successful. They do not go into depth about the seventh son prodigy making the plot kind of dry. Seventh Son is the typical medieval fantasy where a hero is selected and is thrown into a journey where the hero has to battle numerous enemies even if they are bears or boggarts (and not the ones from Harry Potter either.) The hero then has a huge fight at the end of the movie. The thing is in this movie it's not just between Tom and Mother Malkin. The romance between Tom and a daughter of the witches does not help with the categorizing of the movie either. The effects make it entertaining though making sure the audience stays awake throughout time, and so does the comedy. Seventh Son talks a lot about destiny and the destiny when it comes to this movie is that it will not have that many viewers.
