In the final chapter of the Hunger games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is in the midst of a war between the districts and the Capitol. The thing is she doesn't think the war is between the districts and the Capitol; it's between Panem and evil dictators like President Snow (Donald Sutherland.) By teaming up with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), and Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) and the rest of the rebels, Katniss goes straight towards the root of the evil. Viewers may notice that this movie has gone above and beyond since the first movie has come out. The grim-ness in this movie cannot be taken lightly. The deaths are apalling that it doesn't even take a moment for viewers to recover, because it just keeps on going to the next, but it still keeps viewers on the edge of their seats to see what happens next. Not only that, it strikes a chord in viewers' hearts that the movie series is finally ending. All in all, an amazing ending to a great series.
*Rated PG-13 for violence and action.
My Rating: A+
Since I did read the book, I have some other words to say about this movie. I don't want to insert any spoilers, but for those that have stuck with me since the beginning, should know that I have completely different thoughts when it comes to movies that are based off of books.
I wasn't too surprised by the ending chapter of the Hunger Games. The movie does start off on the same chapter where the last movie ended, which is very odd when it comes to movies, but it does play well when it comes to following the books. Since it is Hollywood, the movie doesn't follow directly from the book, but the extra little details have made big impacts especially when it comes to relationships especially between Katniss and Gale. It is true that this movie has reached an all time record when it comes to grim moments especially with all the deaths that happened. It is the last movie after all. It was bound to happen. Look at the ending of the Harry Potter series or any other good series. All in all, it didn't sway too far from the book making viewers who read the book not too disappointed.
