Krampus

Everyone knows Santa Claus: jolly, wears a lot of red, married to Mrs. Claus, has elves to help him make the kids toys, and has eight reindeer. Featured in this movie is the opposite of Santa; Krampus, an evil Santa Claus who punishes and takes away. It's the Christmas season, and the Engel family is far from pleased of the holiday, because they don't want to deal with the entire dysfunctional family. Tom Engel (Adam Scott) is a workaholic who can't take one day off. Sarah Engel (Toni Collette) is upset with her life as it is, and Max Engel (Emjay Anthony) just wishes things to be like old times, where the family would actually have fun with each other than wring each other's necks. Turns out Max's wish comes true and brings the evil Krampus to his front door. This movie is not the worst of the worse, but it's not the best of the best. It definitely has the creepy factor, but it has more of a comedic factor to counteract the creepyness. Not to mention, the ridiculousness of some of the characters like an aunt who can't stop drinking to soothe her nerves, a fat child who can't take a hint, and two girls who look strangely like little boys. If you want your wish to come true, save your money and wait until Redbox to watch this movie.

*Rated PG-13 for sequences of horror violence/terror, language, and drug material.
