Spirited Away

So my boyfriend has been trying to get me to watch more of Studio Ghibli stuff, and I got to admit: I love them! They're so adorable. I haven't watched one that I haven't liked yet. In this Studio Ghibli production, Chihiro Ogino (voiced by Rumi Hiiragi) is moving and she does not like it one bit. It's not until her parents take a detour on the way to their new house when things get weird. Now before I delve even deeper into this movie, the scenery is amazingly beautiful even if it is a cartoon. Every scene looks like it was magnificently drawn, and some of the widening shots that are used to accentuate the scenery is spectacular. Viewers get to see Chihiro enter a spirit's bathhouse, and she may not be able to come back to the human world if she doesn't change up her act of being a spoiled brat who doesn't know her manners. While in the spirit world, Chihiro encounters a number of interesting people including a familiar face, Haku (voiced by Miyu Irino), a bird looking lady, Yubaba (voiced by Mari Natsuki), and even a six armed man named Kamaji (voiced by Bunta Sugawara.) Viewers get to see Chihiro grow from the weak, ill-mannered child she was from the beginning of the movie to a more mature human being who wants to do the right thing. This movie is definitely one that will send viewers through an adventure.

*Rated PG for some scary moments.

My Rating: A+
