I have to admit, before I give you my bit, I don't really remember the cartoon version that much. Once the movie progressed I slowly remembered bit by bit the story of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), and it definitely is an interesting one especially if you are into the whole animal kingdom spectrum. Mowgli was found abandoned in the middle of the forest. It wasn't until Bagheera (voiced by Ben Kingsley) came along and took care of him. In this movie though, Bagheera loses the parental role since he gives it to the wolves making Mowgli the man cub of the group. Mowgli knows he's different though since the alpha wolf, Akela (voiced by Giancarlo Esposito) has incorporated him in his pack and he is trying to make sure he is as swift and agile just like his pups. It's not until Shere Khan (voiced by Idris Elba) comes by and warns the pack that Mowgli will grow up and learn about something called the Red Flower. Driven out by Shere Khan and Akela, Mowgli is departed by Bagheera to reach the human village but not without adventure. Bumping into a giant snake, an even ginormous orangutan, and a very hungry bear is just scraping the top of it. He even gets to make a new friend, Baloo (voiced by Bill Murray.) Let's not forget the infamous songs coming from the Jungle Book either; the Bare Necessities being one of them. They're so catchy viewers might be caught singing them coming out of the movie theater. This movie will definitely keep viewers on the edge of their seat since there is a lot of intensity and a lot of anticipation. If you do know the story, there are some minor changes here and there but it doesn't disturb the plot line. It's so similar that it contains all the major plot bits and in Baloo's words that's the bare necessities.
*Rated PG for some scary action and peril.
