Silver Linings Playbook

Hmm. What do I say about this movie? It's quirky. It's adorable. It can sometimes get intense. But most of all, at least for me, it's relatable. After losing his wife and going a little ballistic on the person she cheated with, Pat (Bradley Cooper) comes back from a mental hospital and tries his best to do things right. The thing is something is different about him. He lost a lot of weight. He's positive and tries everything he can to get anything negative away from him, and this is blatantly obvious when he calls some people toxic. Now in today's society, when people are toxic, we try to kick them out, but in this movie, it's not that any of the characters were toxic. They were just challenging especially characters like his father which is played by Robert De Niro. Not only that, he did his damn best to try and get his wife back after being in a mental hospital for eight months. It wasn't until he bumped into Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) when things start to get a little complicated for Pat, and he can't exactly place it at first, but he grows fond to the idea of having someone else as crazy as him beside him every step of the way. One thing viewers can see is that Pat has very intense mood swings, which is later defined in the movie as bipolar mood swings. As for Tiffany, viewers can tell she's just distraught since losing her husband. Watching these two connect and bond was very interesting to me. They always told each other the crappiest things that ever happened to them and yet, they still resisted each other. It's still obvious though that they were going to end up together. It's just for them to take the entire movie? Now that's a wait. It was just that friendship and bond that really intrigued me and maybe some viewers. The producers definitely hit that in the nail especially the way they focus on certain things in a scene. The camera would move from one aspect to another, and in some ways, it was like the camera was the other person focusing on the tiny details. As for that ending, viewers were anxious to see if Pat was ever going to see his wife and the producers also settle that unsettling feeling. All in all, this movie was very adorable and can definitely show that people need that extra crazy person in their life.

*Rated R for language and some sexual content/nudity.
