Hush definitely fits the description of this movie, because what makes this flick intriguing is the main character and 100% deaf!
Writer Sarah (Samantha Sloyan) lives by herself in the middle of nowhere. (That's not predictable when it comes to a horror movie, right?) She lives in solitude and pure isolation, and the only people that really come to see her are her neighbors whenever they want to read her work. It wasn't until one faithful evening when a psychopathic killer murdered a young woman right on her doorstep without her hearing any of the screaming or the pounding on the door. Now, I thought that was weird because at least people have something called peripheral vision, but I guess when you're really focused on something, you wouldn't notice a gruesome sight like that. I don't know. That part just kicked the movie down a rating because of the reality. As for the rest of the film, it definitely keeps viewers on the edge of their seats trying to figure out what the killer is going to do to Sarah since she can't even scream for help. I think what evens out the cinematography to me is that Sarah is a horror writer, and so she knew how to try to defend herself but still gets a little cut up in the process. All in all, a unique movie with an interesting plot. Just make sure you use all your senses next time you're by yourself.
*Rated R for strong violence/terror and some language.
