The Possession of Hannah Grace

Hey guys! I know it's been a bit since I last wrote a movie review, but I'm slowly but surely getting back at it.

So since most of you guys know that I am a huge horror fan, tonight's movie was one that was entertaining but got me even more motivated to get back into my writing. The Possession of Hannah Grace is not exactly a must see, but it is a movie you have to see if you like your pop-up scares and psychological thrills.

Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell) is a recovering addict who had an issue with her last job as a cop. As a new beginning for herself and her sobriety, she takes on a new job at the Boston hospital in the mortuary while holding the graveyard shift. What I really liked about this movie was that it took the time for the audience to connect with Meg and see what her psychological issues were especially with her stealing her ex's Xanax pills.

One of the downfalls of this movie was the timeline. It takes the course over two nights and next thing you know, movie's over, but the suspense of her getting Hannah Grace's body coming back to life was a thrill ride. As explained in the beginning of the movie, Hannah was going through an exorcism that her father had to witness and of course in a horror movie, it can't be the end or else there wouldn't be a plot line for the movie.

There were a couple questionable moments during the movie, but fortunately for the viewers, they were explained right after the question pops into mind. One of them was when Meg was locked in the cold chamber and when she looked around the bodies weren't wrapped when they're supposed to be, but it was a great excuse for the audience to connect with her because it might have been a figment of her imagination and dealing with her sobriety. All in all, the movie is a good one if you want to jump out of your seat a few times.

*Rated R for gruesome images and terror throughout

My Rating: B
