It Chapter Two

Every 27 years, a killer clown called Pennywise searches for prey in order to feed it's insatiable hunger. Last year marked the 27th year which is why It has scared it's way through the box office.

Derry, Maine has always had a curse: Every 27 years, a killer clown searches for prey to feed upon. Since it has been quite a bit, Bill (played by James McAvoy), Beverly (played by Jessica Chastain), Ben (played by Jay Ryan), Richie (played by Bill Hader), and Eddie (played by James Ransone) have to come back home since they made a promise to make sure if It came back, they would kill It. What else could make this movie more entertaining besides a killer clown?

There is a lot in this movie. From the jump scares to the intense ex-bully the guys used to have to the little spark Bev has for Ben. It has everything. Not to mention a special appearance from the man who wrote the book. Yes. Stephen King was in the movie and I kid you not: I was fangirling pretty hard. But other than that, the movie kept me on the edge of my seat from the scares and the suspense. It's mainly the anticipation viewers have knowing something was going to pop up that made it good. The romance could have been a little bit more subtle between Bev and Ben but since it does play a role it keeps the movie going and not feeling like you're spending three hours in the movie theater.

I did read the book a while ago and even though there were some differences, it didn't hinder me from enjoying the movie. It did make me really like the connection viewers get with the characters. Even though they are older, they each have their own quirks that makes you like each and every one of them. So a good portion of the movie is about them collecting artifacts in order to defeat Pennywise and viewers get to see their portion of their lives while separated from the group. It was also nice to see the flashbacks to see what happened during the rest of that summer when they did encounter Pennywise for the first time.

*R for language, violent content, bloody images, and crude sexual content
