Hey guys! I'm testing out this movie review on my new laptop so please bare with me if you see some weird formatting. I'm still getting used to it but I think it's going to be my new favorite toy. Anyways, movie of the day: Rambo Last Blood.
Fun fact of the day: Sylvester Stallone is 73 years old and he's still making movies like this one. I wasn't exactly a big fan of the Rambo films but who doesn't like a good action flick with a bunch of explosions and big muscle like guys?
Anyways, in this action flick, John Rambo (played by Sylvester Stallone) is back at it again except he just wants to live the simple life on a ranch with his niece. When she decides to leave to find her father in Mexico it's up to Rambo to get her back.
I wasn't expecting much from this movie. It's the typical action movie with explosions and big tough guys sizing each other up. Which brings up one of my points: How is it intimidating when one is right up on your face? It might be a little intimidating but not so much as awkward. I felt like that a good portion of this movie was focusing on that. People just pressing their faces into other people's faces. It did make the viewers connect with the characters though. Gabrielle (played by Yvette Monreal) was taken while in Mexico and had to deal with sex trafficking. The sympathy was felt in the theater. There was also the unnecessary action portions like double tapping people that are already dead. In the end of the movie, there is a big show down between the Mexicans Rambo pissed off and himself that made it great but was somewhat unnecessary. Like there was a moment when they were in the tunnels under the property and someone would fall in a pit of spikes. Rambo would come out and shoot them to make sure they were dead.
All in all, I thought this movie was pretty entertaining but I'm sure some can save a few bucks by waiting until this movie comes to Redbox. It will definitely save some of that loose change in the pocket.
*Rated R for language, gore, violence, intense action scenes
My Rating: B-
