Ford vs. Ferrari

Story time: I used to drive a Ford minivan, and so I have a strong opinion when it comes to Fords. But I put that opinion aside when watching this movie so Movie of the Night: Ford vs. Ferrari!

It is 1966 and Ford Motors just had to shut down it's factory. What does it do to make some money? Invest in Carroll Shelbey (played by Matt Damon) who used to be a big racer back in the day. But since he doesn't race anymore, he suggests one of his good racers. The thing is he's not a big people person. Ken Miles (played by Christian Bale) is one of the best racers but since he tends to not play well with others and with the corporate world breathing down his neck the movie got really interesting.

Before I dive into my critique, Christian Bale always amazes me with his acting skills. Ken Miles seems like a person no one would be able to tolerate, and he managed to pull him off as the selfish know-it-all when it comes to cars. Anyways, I never realized how much manipulation corporations try to pull off when they are deeply involved with something especially like racecar driving. Seeing both ends of the corporations especially Ford was an insight not a lot of people see.

All in all, this movie is pretty interesting if you're into cars. There is a lot of dialogue, and if you miss something you might be a little confused if you dive in the middle. It was an interesting cast as well. Seeing Jon Bernthal in a suit is something else. You also get to see how other corporations behave with other corporations. Ford was trying to be a subsidiary of Ferrari and when they were declined, it was intriguing seeing how CEO's work.

*Rated PG-13 for language and peril
