Hey guys! Merry Christmas and happy holidays! I hope you all are having a wonderful time and spending the days with loved ones. So the Movie of the Night the other night was Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!
In a galaxy far, far away... a lot is going on. Rey (played by Daisy Ridley), Finn (played by John Boyega), and Poe (played by Oscar Isaac) are fighting against Empire Palpatine (played by Ian McDiarmid) and his aid Kylo Ren (played Adam Driver). The thing is in this final installment of the Star Wars series, the war is coming and how else are the Jedi going to fight the Sith? Due to Kylo finding a Sith finder, Rey deals with him while helping the others defeat the Resistance. With the help of the others like C-3P0, Poe, and General Leia, Rey battles her Force bond with Kylo once and for all as well as Emperor Palpatine.
I have never been a huge fan of the Star Wars series... Well at least the new ones. The old ones kept my interest which is why I'm interested in the series but I never really dived deeply when it came to the Clone Wars or other Star Wars shows. So before I dive deep into my movie, for a two and a half hour movie, it didn't seem like it was that bad. There are some moments that seem a little unnecessary but some of those comedic moments evened out the seriousness of what the story was about. I've always been intrigued when it came to the family lines, so the way George Lucas incorporated how Rey is a Palpatine made me think she was actually going to become a Sith. It just sucked on how during the end of the movie, everything was short lived. I had a feeling Kylo was going to be back on the good side, and I really thought Rey was actually going to succumb to Palpatine, but I can see why there are so many negative reviews when it comes to this movie especially on the ending.
All in all, it's a good movie. There are just some parts where it can be disappointing and even unnecessary, but for an ending installment of the Star Wars series, it didn't completely fail in my book.
*Rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and action
My Rating: C
George Lucas didn’t write this film. He has rights to the characters and the story. He had pretty much no hand in the creation of this film.
