Hey guys, how's your Monday going? Mine is going. The Social Network has been on my to watch list for a while and I'm actually kind of glad I found it on Netflix so Movie of the Night from last night: The Social Network!
Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jessie Eisenberg) is known as one of the biggest internet billionaires and that's because he is one of the founders of Facebook but do you know how it came about? In the Social Network, viewers follow Zuckerberg as he programs around Harvard State University by not only blogging about the girl who broke his heart but rating how hot girls are. Because of the high traffic to his site, Zuckerberg is put on academic probation but that didn't stop him from getting the next idea which helped him launch The Facebook with his friend, Eduardo Saverin (played by Andrew Garfield). It wasn't until Zuckerberg started collaborating with high and mighty people that the law suits started coming.
I don't know what it is about a biography that draws me in but Mark Zuckerberg has always been an interesting person especially when it comes to creating one of the biggest social medias in the world. I think I was also most intrigued with how he came about the idea, because like Saverin, I only have the business mind when it comes to starting a service. If you are not a big fan of a lot of talking, this movie is not for you. Jessie Eisenberg has been known to play as a talkative characters and Zuckerberg was right up his alley. There isn't much of a scandal in which leads to the endless lawsuits against Zuckerberg but The Social Media keeps the attention to those who are competitive, because how do you sue someone who stole an idea? Viewers also get to see how Facebook almost squeezed out one of the founders which may be the most dramatic portion of the movie.
*Rated PG-13 for sexual content, drugs and alcohol use, and language
My Rating: A
