Hey guys! How's your day going? I've been on a Netflix binge lately and just been going ham on Criminal Minds. I don't know why but it's been very intriguing so I apologize if I am rating old school movies. I came across this one when I was looking for something to watch on Hulu and this movie brings back memories. I used to have Mousetrap on VHS so without further ado, Movie of the Night: Mousehunt!
Ernie and Lars Smuntz (played by Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) are brothers who have nothing in common except when their father passes away, and they are left with his string factory and a house he just happened to own. With the company not making money, the only way to pay it off was to sell the house. The thing is the boys did not know the unsuspecting inhabitant living in the Charles Lyle LaRue property especially when it is smart, cunning, and a mouse.
This movie always made me laugh when I would watch it as a kid and not just because on how silly Nathan Lane and Lee Evans are but how creative the mouse gets to keep the strangers out of the house. I also liked how they used every sort of tactic to get rid of it. From mousetraps, to a cat, to pest control (Christopher Lee did an amazing job by the way) the mouse was just one step ahead of them. Of course, with how old the movie is, there is a level of some sort of cheesiness (Ha ha) so some of the events that happen in the movie are not possible but not every body freaks out at the sight of a mouse. All in all, an entertaining movie to watch with the family.
*Rated PG for language and mayhem
