Wonder Woman 1984

Hey guys, how's it going? Happy February! So I was kind of out of wack because of work but I'm back in sync. I watched Wonder Woman a week ago but it's still fresh in my mind as well as some notes so Movie of the Night: Wonder Woman 1984!

Gal Gadot is back at it again as the famous Wonder Woman or otherwise known as Diana Prince. Diana isn't your ordinary woman. She's a princess from an island off of Italy called Themyscira. So you would think a power hungry businessman wouldn't bother her right? Nope. Hungry with greed, Maxwell Lord (played by Pedro Pascal) robs his fellow colleague and takes something from her work and grants the wishes anybody wants. The thing is when someone makes a wish, he or she has to give something up and in this case, Diana's strength was sapped for someone she loved.

I'm sorry but my first actual thought when I was watching this movie was why does Pedro Pascal have blonde hair? I was so used to seeing him with dark hair but as a blonde, it just threw me off. Anyways, the actual movie was entertaining but it wasn't my favorite. There were a few moments that made me question the capabilities at what Wonder Woman can do with her Lasso of Truth. Example: There was a moment when she was wanting to fly because her lover, Steve (played by Chris Pine), was a pilot and his passion was flying. When she was having her moment, she lassoed a cloud... Yeah. Science was kind of blown out of the water. Other than that, I really like the idea the movie was playing off of: being careful of what you wish for and giving up something for that wish. All in all, an interesting movie but only as entertaining.

*Rated PG-13 for action and violence

My Rating: B
