The Great Wall

Hey guys! I know it's a little late (in my time zone) but I thought I might as well rate this movie since it's still Monday which by the way Happy March! Don't forget to Spring forward your clocks this month! Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: The Great Wall!

As mercenaries, William (played by Matt Damon) and Tovar (played by Pedro Pascal) go to the Great Wall of China to find some treasures to bring back to Europe. Instead, they come across some strange creatures raising hell on the Wall, and it's up to them as well to help save China from these monstrous animals.

Where do I begin with this movie? Let's start off with the fact, that visibility is somewhat scarce. It's either in the dark or in dense fog which by the way brought so many questions while characters are in combat. For example, William goes over the wall to take on the monsters head on and for some weird reason, he knows where they're coming from even though the fog is super dense. That's just one complaint I have. Another one is the dialogue in this movie is so low, I would rather have the subtitles on the entire time, and there are some subtitles because some characters speak in Chinese. I do admit though: I was kind of excited to see Pedro Pascal in this movie but his voice was drowned out with the action and I feel like I was constantly fumbling around with the volume button. All in all, it's an entertaining movie but I wouldn't waste my time watching this sci-fi flick.

*Rated PG-13 for violence

My Rating: D
