Hey guys! How's it going? I know I've been a little MIA the past couple weeks. I've been battling my allergies so I decided to take a little break but don't worry; I've been watching movies in my free time so I'll make sure to rate them these next few Saturdays and Mondays. Anyways, I watched this movie not once but twice, and as my first time being back in the movie theaters in over a year, I thought this was a good movie to rate. So without furthur ado, Movie of the Night: Godzilla vs. Kong!
Somewhere on Skull Island, King Kong is not exactly feeling at home since he's been watched for some time. Somewhere else in the world, Godzilla is causing some unexplained mayhem when he left civilization peacefully the last time we saw him. It wasn't until a young woman named Madison Russell (played by Millie Bobby Brown) started putting things together from a podcast voiced by Bernie Hayes (played by Brian Tyree Henry) who was trying to warn people about Godzilla's sporadic attacks. With the help of Maddie, Bernie, Dr. Nathan Lind (played by Alexander Skarsgard), and a few other people, Godzilla and Kong don't have to kill each other to make each other content.
For my first movie back in the movie theater, I thought it would be interesting to watch this action packed film and it wasn't too bad. It could have been a little better but I wasn't expecting too much from this sequel. The movie also touched a controversial topic: Hollow Earth which is where Kong finds a helpful tool in defeating Godzilla. So I wasn't expecting something like that to come up in a simple action movie but what do I know? It just seemed like the movie was all over the place. The end of the movie sets place in Hong Kong which the two destroy with just throwing each other's bodies around. Other than that, I have always been a Godzilla fan so it was interesting seeing which Alpha was going to end up on top.
*Rated PG-13 for intense violence and action and mild language
My Rating: B-
They definitely could've touched on the whole Ancient Rivalry. They left so many unanswered questions 😅
