Hey guys! How's your Monday/Memorial Day going? I'm doing alright. I wasn't feeling very well yesterday but I'm doing better today. Anyways, my dad decided to pick this movie for some weird reason but Movie of the Night from the other night: Army of the Dead!
In southern Nevada lies Las Vegas as well as $200 million dollars but that money is not going to be gambled away in the casinos. Bly Tanaka (played by Hiroyuki Sanada) has the money well protected in The Olympus casino but he needs former mercenary Scott Ward (played by Dave Bautista) and his hand picked team to get the money without getting devoured by the zombies who have taken over the city. It wasn't until Ward has to deal with a different type of zombie that things start getting a little crazy.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of this movie but it is still pretty cool to watch a movie that takes place at where I call home. I just didn't know a portion of the movie was going to take place in a made up hotel when Zack Snyder could have picked one of the more well known casinos but I guess he had a different idea for the setting. Anyways, despite the fact that he also makes the zombies have feelings and even pregnant, the action was pretty interesting. There was even a Shawn of the Dead moment when there was a zombie tiger. Other than that, not one of Zack's best works. There was even an estranged relationship placed in the movie between Ward and his daughter because they haven't talked to each other in a while. It just didn't seem to fit well in the zombie apocalypse even though it is an interesting concept. All in all, I would skip the big screen on this one. It is on Netflix if you do want to watch it though. Just beware to not watch it with the little ones if you have any.
*Rated R for language, gore, violence, and some sexual content and nudity
