Hey guys! How's it going? Apparently my dad wanted to watch scary movies with me so he decided vampire movies are the best scary movies to watch with me haha. Expect another vampire movie review Saturday but today I'll be rating Interview With a Vampire's sequel: Queen of the Damned!
Ever wondered how Louis' creator turned into a vampire? Well, we get to learn how Lestat (played by Stuart Townsend) got changed into a vampire and managed to wake up Queen Akasha (played by Aaliyah) from her slumber with his interest in music. But as a rock icon in the early 2000's, Lestat decides to have one and only one live concert which brings out not only Queen Akasha to make him her fellow king but other vampires and an interested lover.
I forgot producers made a second movie, but I'm going to be blunt: I could have done something else in the almost two hours this movie was playing. Not only did it seem like it was trying to appeal to the goth culture with Jonathan Davis' music but the story just seemed so jumbled compared to Louis in Interview with a Vampire. I thought it was an interesting twist that a vampire can be so intrigued by music, let alone, rock music though. Which by the way, I thought it was hilarious to see Lestat lip sing to Korn at his concert. Did I mention viewers get to see Jonathan Davis in the movie as an extra? Anyways my point being, the movie is entertaining to see vampires do their thing when it comes to their hunger for blood but the juggling between a human girl and a Queen just seemed a little out of left field. You can definitely tell the advancement in technology though with the special effects which was pretty cool. All in all though, interesting take on vampires but not the best when portraying it.
*Rated R for violence
My Rating: D
