Hey guys! How's it going? Sorry I haven't been posting in the past couple weeks. I've been a little busy with life but it's all good! Anyways, so I was scrolling through Netflix and saw this little gem. It was either this or Steve Jobs but that might be another movie review for later. I'm also getting bothered to rate Twilight since I have not rated that series but I'll get to that when I can. Soo without further ado, Movie of the Night from last night: The Theory of Everything!
In the 1960's, Stephen Hawking (played by Eddie Redmayne) was studying physics at Cambridge. But just like any other student, Stephen had a life. He had friends who were as studious as him but not as bright and went to parties to shake off his studies. It wasn't until he was at a small get-together where he met his wife, Jane (played by Felicity Jones). Between finishing his PhD and enjoying his time with Jane, Stephen was enjoying everything until one day his motor skills started deteriorating. With the help from his PhD supervisor, Dennis Sciama (played by David Thewlis) and Jane, Stephen delves more into the time he has.
In my opinion, the world lost a brilliant mind in 2018. Stephen Hawking was 76 years old when he passed away so watching this biography of the cosmologist made me appreciate his mind even more. It was definitely captivating watching his mind do it's magic figuring out his dissertation for his PhD. It was also so adorable seeing his relationship with Jane blossom from when they first met to him developing ALS. Watching the every day life of Stephen Hawking made me so engrossed in the movie I forgot I was in the middle of doing something. The Theory of Everything captures the beauty of the most simplistic functions: writing, eating, and even walking. As Stephen said at the end of the movie: "There should be no boundaries to human endeavor. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there's life, there's hope."
*Rated PG-13 for suggestive material and thematic elements
My Rating: A+
