So last week I ended my movie review on which team you were on. Want to take a guess on which team I am? I'll give you a hint: He barely wears a shirt in the series but if I were to pick a vampire, it would have to be Jasper haha. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: New Moon!
Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and Edward (played by Robert Pattinson) are madly in love. The thing is Edward is a vampire who doesn't want to hurt the one he loves so he does something that tears Bella's heart out of her; He leaves Forks. With a part of herself gone, Bella has no idea what to do with herself. Good thing Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner) decides to spend time with her to help not think about Edward. But Bella can't help but fight the emotions she has for Jake but it doesn't take over the love she has for Edward.
I already gave a big spiel in my last movie review on how the books are far better than the movies, so I'm going to leave those behind for a good minute and just say: The movies get better with each sequential part. Not only do they explain every person's back story but Taylor Lautner loses the wig, so no more little kid Jacob Black but the buff wolf boy is out to play and he is not nice. Anyways, viewers are also introduced to the Volturi, the vampire clan who watches over all of the vampires. Did I mention Dakota Fanning plays one of the Volturi's too? I feel like the action in the movie could have been a little bit more but it counters the cheesiness from the love triangle. The romance between the three isn't as forced as it was in the first movie but it's still cheesy. For example, Bella and Edward can't get too intimate because of him accidentally hurting her so she is adamant on being changed into a vampire. Is she willing to leave her current life to be one of the pale faces?
*Rated PG-13 for violence and action
My Rating: B-
