Titanic

Hey there guys! How's your day going? I'm doing pretty good. Just enjoying the night and I just realized I haven't rated this gem on here. I know I rated it when I was first starting out my movie reviews on Facebook but now that I have this little blog, I thought might as well since I just watched this last week. So without further ado, Movie of the Night from last week: Titanic!

The RMS Titanic was sailing the Atlantic on April 14, 1916. During the early hours of April 15, 1916, the Titanic sank bringing at least 1,500 to their deaths. In this romance story, Jack Dawson (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Kate Winslet) were on the same ship when it sank. Rose was on the luxurious side of first class though compared to Jack who happened to win his ticket onto the Titanic. For the first four days of the Titanic's voyage, Jack and Rose got to know each other more than they can imagine dreaming of their future and waiting to land in New York. On the fifth day though, Titanic hit an iceberg causing the ship to sink as well the lover's adventure together.

I remember when I was younger, this movie had three VHS tapes. Yup. That's because the movie is three hours long. One hour devoted to introducing the Titanic, the characters, and all those stories of how everyone meets. Another hour on character development and another just for the sinking alone. I also remember rating this movie when I first started writing my movie reviews and giving it an A+. And I still stand by that rating. Even though romance is not my favorite genre, the story of Jack and Rose got viewers to see not only the upper deck of the ship where there was not enough lifeboats to save even half of the 2.240 people who were on the Titanic, but they also see the hull or the bottom of the ship where Jack is taken when he is accused for stealing something from Rose. The Titanic itself is a magnificent story in which I hope I get to visit the museum that's here in town but it's also intimidating seeingi how intimidating the sea can be... even though someone should have seen the iceberg way ahead of time but that's my opinion. Anyways, if the movie does happen to go back to the big screen I wouldn't mind sitting in the movie theaters for three hours to watch it... yet again. But for now, it's available on Netflix if you do want to watch it.

*Rated PG-13 for language, a brief scene of nudity, sensuality, peril and violence

My Rating: A+
