Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Hey guys, how's it going? I'm doing pretty good. Just been a little busy with the holidays but I'm enjoying it. Especially when it comes to video games. Want to take a guess which genre of video games I like the most? That's right! The horror kind so without further ado, Movie of the Night from the other night: Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City!

Raccoon City is a small town and for Claire Redfield, (played by Kaya Scodelario) she did not want to come back except for her brother. The thing is he is assigned a project at the Spencer Mansion and there's something weird happening not only at the mansion but in the city. Claire isn't the only one who is experiencing it though. New RCPD recruit, Leon Kennedy (played by Avon Jogia) is taken aback when the station is under attack by random people who are just ready to eat his flesh and bones. Raccoon City is under a siege and these people just don't know why. It's up to them to stay alive and get out.

I have never played this particular Resident Evil but based on what I heard, the movie is pretty accurate when it comes to the scenes and characters. I just didn't know how I can watch a movie that's half in the dark. Literally. There is a scene in the Spencer Mansion where Claire's brother, Chris (played by Robbie Amell) is dogpiled by a multitude of zombies/monsters and his flashlight goes in and out leaving some of the scene in pitch dark. There were a few pop up scares that are definitely anticipated but the suspense was as equal to what was happening the city. Based on the ending though, there's going to be another movie and I'm kind of excited to see it. I just didn't realize how corny the movie can be or maybe that's just the acting. I have been super interested in the Resident Evil series the moment I started playing Biohazard and to say I recommend it is an understatement. I would definitely watch this on the big screen.

*Rated R for violence, gore, and language

My Rating: B+
