Encanto

Hey guys, how's it going? I'm doing alright. Spring has finally come and my body is not having it so I've been trying to take it easy but we'll see how that goes. Anyways, I'm surprised I haven't rated this movie yet but I think it's because I haven't watched it until this year. Anyways, Movie of the Night: Encanto!

Mirabel Madrigal (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz) is part of a magical family that has many Gifts. Like her older sister Luisa (voiced by Jessica Darrow) can carry heavy items and not break a sweat. Her other sister, Isabela (voiced by Diane Guerrero) is the most perfect person anyone can think of and can grow beautiful flowers. Her cousin, Felix (voiced by Mauro Castillo) can even talk to animals. It wasn't until one day that something was happening to the magic that Mirabel might figure out what her Gift is but that includes talking about Bruno (voiced by John Leguizamo).

Story time: I was going to a Volbeat concert last night and before the concert, I heard We Don't Talk About Bruno on the radio. Yup. A Disney song is now being played on the radio. I have no idea why it was playing but it got me thinking that I should finally rate this movie. Anyways, I knew I was going to expect some singing because it is Disney. But who knew they were going to be catchy songs that would randomly pop into my head in the middle of the workday? Not only that, there is a lot of relatable events happening in the movie that made me think of my family especially when Mirabel is thinking she is not good enough for her abuelita but that made the movie more interesting to watch. Besides the catchy music and the relatable events, Encanto is a movie that is definitely worth a watch. It's a bummer it didn't end up on the big screen but you can always catch it on Disney Plus!

Rated PG for thematic elements and peril

My Rating: A+
