Elvis

Hey there! I know it's been a minute since a movie review but I'm back and with a good one! Ever since I was a little girl, I was a huge fan of Elvis, so I knew I wanted to watch the movie once it came out and to say watching it on the big screen did not disappoint. So without further ado, Movie of the Night: Elvis!

The King of Rock and Roll didn't always want to be a King. At first, Elvis Aaron Presley (played by Austin Butler) wanted to be a hero and that's what he did. From his childhood in Tupelo, Mississipi to moving into his world famous Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee to taking over the Las Vegas stage. Elvis definitely made an impression on not only the ladies in his life but on his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (played by Tom Hanks) as well but some might say: The Colonel might have been the reason why Elvis left the building.

The amount of fun facts I can spew at this moment would be absurd since my dad was always singing and watching his movies when I was little. Not to mention, my love for music spawned because of the King. He might be the reason I'm into rock, but I have a wide range of interest when it comes to music. But anyways enough about me. I had a feeling the movie was going to center around the Colonel but I didn't know it was going to be from his perspective, so I was not expecting that. The pace was a little wonky especially in the beginning though because Elvis was inspired by soul and R&B music so it was a little strange going from his childhood to his adolescent years but the pacing slows down from there. Needless to say, Austin Butler did a fantastic job filling in the Elvis' shoes and he can say "Thank you very much" all night because the big screen is the only way to watch this movie.

*Rated PG-13 for language, substance abuse, strong material, and smoking

My Rating: A+
