Bohemian Rhapsody

Hey guys! How's it going? I know it's been a minute but I have been a wee bit busy. As an example, my birthday was yesterday so I thought I was going to take it easy today but I did the exact opposite. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: Bohemian Rhapsody!

Once upon a time, there was a young man named Freddie Mercury (played by Rami Malek) except his name wasn't always Freddie. It was actually Farrokh Bulsara. He always loved music and to add flair to not only to music but to everything else as well. Shortly into 1970, he and a few other guys create the British rock band, Queen. As with every other rock band, the guys have their ups and downs especially with Freddie's defiance to social norms. Even though, Freddie had a solo career for a short while, he still managed to perform with the band for one of their last concerts, Live Aid, rocking everyone's heart out.

This movie has been on my watch list for a long time. Basically ever since it came out and even though I was only able to watch it at home, I was astounded at Malek's acting as Mercury. I did not expect anything from him, but he definitely blew my mind away with not only his acting but his singing as well. The vocal range is crazy close if not on point with Mr. Freddie Mercury himself. Even though the movie centers around him specifically, I was intrigued with everything that happened with the band especially after the news Freddie told them at the end. I never really followed Queen that much but everything seemed like a fun fact to me. The only thing the movie kind of irked me a bit is when Mary (played by Lucy Boynton) just disregarded the fact that he is bi and just declared him gay. It definitely lead me down a rabbit hole of Google searches. That's for sure hahaha. Bohemian Rhapsody definitely makes you want to sing along, sympathize for Freddie, and love everybody all at the same time. It's on Hulu if you do want to watch it even though it probably was better on the big screen.

*Rated PG-13 for language, drug use, thematic material, suggestive material

My Rating: A+
