Mamma Mia

Hey guys! How's it going? I know it's a little late but I thought why not? I wanted a feel good movie tonight and this one just happened to pop up on Hulu. So for Movie of the Night: Mamma Mia!

Sophie Sheridan (played by Amanda Seyfried) is a 20-year-old preparing for her wedding with her one and true love. The thing is she wants her father to give her away but she has no idea who he is. And her mother is no help, because Donna Sheridan (played by Meryl Streep) doesn't even know who Sophie's father is. It could either be Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard), Harry "Headbanger" Bright (Colin Firth), or Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan). So what's better than inviting all three of them to the wedding? Nothing can go wrong... Right?

I think I rated this movie way back in the day when I was first starting my movie ratings and I thought I rated it on my new and improved blog but I guess not. Oh well. Oi. Mamma Mia... what can I say about this Broadway spectacular? I watched this when it was on Broadway so the transition to the movie was a surprise to me, but Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep killed at as the mother and daughter who not only love each other so much, but dealing with their own personal issues like who the heck Sophie's father is. The cheesy factor is a little up there with how they are with their singing pieces but Abba is catchy, so you probably might catch yourself dancing in your seat no matter how you are watching this movie. Even though this movie is on Hulu, you can still be a dancing queen.

*Rated PG-13 for sexual references

My Rating: B-
