Hey guys! How's it going? I know. I was in the middle of rating The Hunger Games (which by the way, the views on that skyrocketed!), but I wanted to make sure I get to this one before moving on with the rest of the Hunger Games series. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other Night: Detective Pikachu!
Tim Goodman (played by Justice Smith) was just your normal teenager who didn't have a Pokemon when everyone else has one. He even works for insurance. It wasn't until one day when he got notice that his father passed away, but Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) doesn't think he's dead. Since Pikachu was Tim's father's partner, it's up to Tim and him to find out if his father is dead or not.
I've been really wanting to watch this movie ever since it came out, but I completely forgot about it until I saw a little bit of it at the gym. Because of the end of an era with Ash and Pikachu, I had to watch something with Pokemon. Anyways, I enjoyed Detective Pikachu mainly because of the Pokemon. The story with Tim and his dad is interesting and all, but it was more interesting just seeing the different animated Pokemon. From Bulbasaurs to Mewtwo, I could not stop being fascinated. Also I have been on a Ryan Reynolds binge, and he just has a direct line to my funny bone. The fact that he actually stars in the movie as well made it even better, but I kind of wish I saw it on the big screen. It would have been awesome to see Mewtwo on the big screen, but this is good enough. I did have to rent the movie off of YouTube, but I'm sure it'll be on cable again soon. So if you are wondering what to watch with the kids the next movie night, check it out!
*Rated PG for thematic elements, rude and suggestive humor, action/peril
My Rating: B
