Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Hey guys, how's it going? If you celebrate Easter, Happy Easter! I know I skipped last week, but I needed a little break. Allergy season is upon us, and it hasn't been kind to me. I don't know what's been going on in the air, but it's been kicking me in the butt. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves!

In this comedy, Chris Pine plays a witty bard named Edgin Darvis who needs help getting an ancient artifact that can bring back his dead wife. With the help from a barbarian, Holga (played by Michelle Rodriguez), an amateur sorcerer, Simon (played by Justice Smith), a human-like creature with horns and has the ability to shape shift (a Tiefling Druid for those who play) named Doric (played by Sophia Lillis), Edgin reconnects with his daughter and has to deal with Forge (played by Hugh Grant), a rogue who became the Lord of Neverwinter. Oh and let's not forget his trusted Advisor is a Red Mage who has her own plans, so a lot is happening.

I don't even know where to begin with my review, because there was so much going on in this movie, but I was able to follow because even though I never played the tabletop role-play game, I was able to understand most of the movie. Even if you don't understand the concept of D&D, you're still able to enjoy it. I think the science fiction aspect of the movie is what captured my attention. This is why I am such a nerd when it comes to movies like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but I'm not nerdy enough to play a tabletop game I guess. Anyways, the story may seem a little complicated at first because of the language, but if you get over it, you'll be able to follow the story quite well. This is definitely a movie to watch on the big screen, so if you're in the mood for a comedic adventure, this is definitely the movie to check out!

*Rated PG-13 for language and violence/fantasy action

My Rating: A
