The Hunger Games

Fun fact: I've been re-reading the series so I thought I might as well binge watch the series. Unfortunately, Netflix took them off before I could jump into the movie reviews so this has been on a backlog for a while so Movie of the Night from the other night: The Hunger Games!

Ladies and gentlemen, the 74th Hunger Games has started and Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) is one of the star players. The thing is in these games 24 people have to kill each other until one is the victor, and it doesn't help that one of her opponents is also from her district and he's playing the role as a star crossed lover with her. Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson) wants nothing more to be a pawn in the Capitol's games but Katniss knows who the real enemy, so she's doing her best to stay alive.

Another fun fact: I rated this movie when I was first starting my movie reviews on Facebook so I had to re-rate it and since I'm reading the series I may have a little bit more to say. But despite the fact that the book is from Katniss' point of view, the producers managed to portray the book in a great way. Even with Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Liam Hemsworth as some of the other characters, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson definitely work great as Katniss and Peeta. The amount of violence and action may not be great for the kids, but it definitely keeps the audience on the edge of their seats especially if you haven't read the books. I do remember my dad was a little confused since he didn't understand that this movie came out when the dystopian movies were coming out, but he enjoyed the entertainment. Anyways, like I mentioned, the movies were on Netflix but I'm sure it's on Vudu, Amazon, or other streaming services.

*Rated PG-13 for violence and action - involving teens

My Rating: A
