Hey guys, how's it going? I'm recovering from a really bad ear infection, but it's gone away. Now I just have to deal with my allergies. Spring has been my enemy, but it's getting warmer so I'm ready to welcome summer with open arms. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: The Super Mario Bros. Movie!
In Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) has to take care of the Toad citizens, however it gets a little too much when Bowser (voiced by Jack Black) tries to kidnap her. It doesn't help when Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day), two brothers who find themselves out of Brooklyn and in an alternate universe ruin his plans. With the help from Donkey Kong (voiced by Seth Rogan), Peach, and Toad (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key), Mario takes down Bowser and makes sure his brother is safe and sound.
I grew up playing Mario Bros, so I had to watch this bad boy, and this movie did not let me down. Not only was it just a spectacle with a whole bunch of Easter eggs like Rainbow Road and Donkey Kong as well as Diddy Kong, there was a different story when it came to Mario and Peach. Normally, he's saving Princess Peach from the evil clutches of Bowser, but she was actually wearing the pants and guiding him when he didn't even know Mushroom Kingdom. Did I also mention Jack Black did an amazing job as Bowser? I always feel like he can't do a movie without singing, and the song he made for Peach was just hilarious. All in all, it was a great movie and it's definitely one made for the kids. It's definitely a movie to watch on the big screen so next time you have an outing with the little ones, check it out!
Rated PG for violence and action
My Rating: A
