Hey guys! What are the odds of me finding the series on Hulu after mentioning that I couldn't find it? That and Detective Pikachu. I have been reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes so I have been on a complete binge of not only the movies but the books as well. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other Night: Catching Fire!
This year is different for Panem. It's time for the 75th Hunger Games which means it's a Quarter Quell and the games are going to be different. Because President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) is not liking that there was a spark of hope from the last Hunger Games, game makers are making previous victors the 24 people placed in the arena this time around, and since Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) is the only female victor in the Hunger Games from District 12, she is thrown back in. She's not going down without a fight though and with the help from some unexpected people, she managed to keep Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson) alive but at what cost?
Things are getting tense in the districts and it's all because of Katniss. I think this is when I really got captivated into the Hunger Games. I was always fascinated by dystopian stories, but this series got me because of the unfairness and inequality between the Capitol and the districts. Since I'm reading the fourth book, I really don't want to spoil anything but it's just compelling especially since the fourth book is coming from the eyes from someone in the Capitol. Anyways, Catching Fire was a turning point for the Rebels because it gave them time to put their plan in motion, but from firsthand experience, if you have not read the books, you would be somewhat confused at what is happening in this movie. Of course, it's still an interesting movie with the fact that people are trying to kill each other, but I like that it's more than that. That is the only downside of these movies, because viewers are able to enjoy the first one but if you don't pay attention, you will get lost. The attention to detail is not overlooked though so there are key moments that do make Catching Fire a heated movie. Anyways, if you are interested in watching it, the series is on Hulu (No need to rent from YouTube or any of that), just be careful if you do have the little ones around, because it does get violent and bloody.
*Rated PG-13 for violence, thematic elements, language, and some frightening images
My Rating: B
