Hey guys! How's it going? Happy Saturday! I was scrolling through Netflix when I came across this oldie but goodie. So Movie of the Night: School of Rock!
Dewey Finn (played by Jack Black) is your typical rocker: Looking forward to the next gig and having 20 minute guitar solos however when his band kicks him out and he has to room with his buddy, Ned Schneebly (played by Mike White), reality slaps him in the face. The thing is when he picks up a call for Ned for a substituting job at Horace Green Prep School, he may or may have not stepped over the line recruiting some of the kids to help him get into the Battle of the Bands.
It has been a minute since I've seen Jack Black in a movie and I'm not counting The Mario Movie because it was a cartoon. (Admit it: Peaches is catchy!) I forgot how silly and passionate he gets when it comes to music, and when watching him teach rock and roll to 10 and 11-year-olds is kind of motivating. I think it might be time to bust out my keyboard and jam out haha. Anyways, School of Rock is a feel good movie that has some catchy tunes and comedic moments that will not only make the parents laugh but the kids as well. If you don't like Jack Black then maybe it's not for you but I'd say try it. It's not all about him. It's all about the impact of rock and roll.
Rated PG-13 for drug references, rude humor, and language
My Rating: B
