Hey guys! How's it going? We in the USA just celebrated the 4th of July so it's been a couple busy days but now that I'm settled into the weekend, I can just kick back and relax. So without further ado, Movie of the Night from the other night: A Quiet Place: Day One!
In this prequel of A Quiet Place, Sam (played by Lupita Nyong'o), a terminally ill cancer patient, decides to go into New York City to get what she has been so desperately wanting: pizza. However when it seems like the world is ending, she is caught in between monsters who are highly sensitive to noises and an English law student named Eric (played by Joseph Quinn). It's up to Eric and her cat, Frodo Reuben, to help her get to safety in an eerily quiet world.
I was drawn into this franchise from the first movie with John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, and the fact that they made a prequel made me super excited to see it. Although this movie follows a different person and her story, this movie doesn't fully answer some questions like where did the monsters come from? It's still exciting and thrilling to watch people run for their lives as these monsters come and eat them, but it also makes you want to be as quiet as the people in the movie so that you, yourself, don't get caught by the monsters. Another question I couldn't help but ask myself during this entire movie was: how did Frodo stick with Sam all throughout this entire ordeal, because I'm pretty sure there were a few moments where he could have just ran for his life but instead he stuck to her like glue. I'm glad I got to see this movie on the big screen because if I was watching this at home, I would have the volume all the way up just to make sure I don't miss one conversation between anyone including the cat's meows (which he didn't do by the way). There is one particular jump scare so if you think you're in for a regular horror movie, I will warn you now, keep an eye out. Otherwise, I hope you guys enjoy this movie as much as I did.
*Rated PG-13 for terror and bloody images/violent content
My Rating: A+
