Borderlands

Hey guys! How's it going? Sorry for not posting last week. I was thinking about posting before going to the concert, but I thought against it since my Saturdays do get a wee bit busy from time to time. Anyways, Movie of the Night from the other night: Borderlands!

On the world of Pandora, bounty hunter, Lilith (played by Cate Blanchett), is not your average vault hunter. She does whatever she can to find treasure, but when she is contacted by a powerful corporate man in search for his daughter, Tiny Tina (played by Arianna Greenblatt), she might as well take the job since he was going to pay her quite a large sum. With the help of a band of misfits, Lilith not only gets to know who she is, she finds a family she wasn't expecting to be a part of.

I tried keeping an open mind on this movie. I really did, and since I did play the game series (not the entirety of it, but I get the gist) this movie did not quite live up to what I thought it would be like. There were moments where it did feel like the games, but there was just something not quite clicking. With the characters, the story, and just a lot of the movie in general. For one, not to bag on Cate Blanchett but she just doesn't quite fit the character of Lilith. As for the story... I've played the first game and how she meets Psycho (played by Florian Munteanu) was a little different then what happened in the movie. I'm not just saying this from my point of view, but by the amount of people who came and went from their seats in the movie theater, speaks how captivating this movie was. Not even Jack Black, the voice of Claptrap, was able to save this movie. I hate to say it: I wouldn't watch this one on the big screen. Save your money and save yourself from watching it at home. Maybe the kids might like it. Maybe not. Just save yourself the time and effort.

*Rated PG-13 for violence, language and action

My Rating: D-

  1. Borderlands is my fav game, that's so sad that this movie did not live up to the game.
