Hey guys! How's it going? It's starting to warm up over here. I'm ready for the pool, because I don't do so well in the heat haha. Anyways, so I decided to get out of my comfort zone and step out of the Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ subscriptions and tried out Peacock, and although it's a bit cheaper, it seems to have more of the movies that I like so I might be switching some subscriptions around haha. So without further ado, Movie of the Night from the other night: Five Nights at Freddy's!
Mike Schmidt (played by Josh Hutcherson) is trying his best to take care of his younger sister, Abby (played by Piper Rubio) however it's kind of difficult when he can't keep a stable job. No matter what it is. Luckily he lands one at Freddy's Fazzbear Pizza except something doesn't seem right over there. As a security guard, the job shouldn't be too bad but when the shift is the night shift, things tend to go bump in the night... And not just the regular kind of bumps either. Mike has to keep his head clear in order to get to the bottom of things or in this case, he needs to get some sleep.
I really wanted to watch this one in theaters. Mainly because I did play the games and as a fan, I had to watch the movie. I'm just saying though: it would have been much better to watch in theaters, because not only am I a fan of the games but you should also know that I am a huge fan of suspense/thriller/horror types of movies and this one was right up my ally. So if you play the games, you should know the main gist of what Mike is supposed to be doing: Keeping an eye out for Freddy and his goons and make sure they don't get you while you're busy watching the other surveillance videos. The way they made the animatronics look so life-like was insane. I especially like what they did with the eyes. Very on par with the games however there is a little bit more of a story when it comes to the movie, and to say I kind of forgot about Josh Hutcherson is an understatement haha. I like that there was some depth when it came to him and his sister's story especially with the fact that he didn't know whether or not he could take care of his sister, because of his sleeping problems but there were a few surprises: Like Matthew Lillard for example. I didn't realize he was going to be in this movie and especially be Golden Freddy. There were a few lull moments I feel like could have been better but it wasn't that bad. Like I mentioned before: I really wish I could have watched this one in theaters, because even though it leans more on the suspense side, there are a few little jump scares so if your little ones are a fan of the series, I would be careful when watching this one with them. They might get a little spooked.
*Rated PG-13 for language, violent content, and bloody images
