Hey guys! How's it going? I just realized I made a movie review for this specific movie back in 2015 and geez! Let's just say: I'm glad my writing has gotten better over the years, because everything seemed like a run on sentence haha. That and I was so used to writing my movie reviews on Facebook Notes. Anyways, without further ado, Movie of the Night from the other Night: Pixels!
What would you do if the planet was being taken over by aliens who looks like classic videogame characters? For Sam Brenner (played by Adam Sandler), he would be able to annihilate them, because not only is he good at the videogames, but he would be able to do it with his friends who would be able to back him up. One of his friends, Will Cooper (played by Kevin James) is the president of the United States, and because of him, Sam can be on the front line teaching others on how to take down the aliens. One character at a time.
I was very iffy about making another movie review for this movie. Mainly because I forgot how average it can be. Not that it's a bad movie. It's hilarious in some parts, but it still has it's forced comedic moments that just seem unnecessary. Adam Sandler doesn't really force his comedic moments. It's just the other characters like Kevin James being the president and having a date with his wife or Josh Gad plays a character who believes every conspiracy theory and takes his role as a videogame nerd to the next level when it came to teaching the US military on how to take down Centipede. Don't get me wrong. The nostalgia was there with not only the cast, but the videogame characters that came across the screen like Donkey Kong, Q*Bert, Pac-Man... I used to love playing arcade games all the time with the family, but I still stand by my original post about when one of the characters (I have no idea which game she comes from), Lady Lisa, comes to life and actually has kids and marries Ludlow (Josh Gad's character.) It just seems a little odd to bring that to the table. A part of me kind of wanted to watch this in theaters but I'm kind of glad I waited. Also, you know it has been a long time since in my previous movie review of this movie, I referenced Redbox. Whew. Those were the days. Anyways, it is on Netflix, so if you are looking for something entertaining to show the kids, I would recommend this one. Just don't pay too close attention to it. You might think it's a little too silly.
*Rated PG-13 for language and crude comments
